Reflection Writing #3
This week I have done a lot of research in order to find some more questions that I might have for my interview. During this past week I have learned more about atrial fibrillation. I was surprised to learn that atrial fibrillation causes epistaxis, (bleeding from the nose). My best resource so far has been TheHorse.com, this is because it has many articles written by people who have much experience in this particular subject. I have been adding more and more questions to my list every week. I think that I am going to end up getting a lot out of my interview because I am preparing so much. I am planning on interviewing Jennifer Miller via email but if possible, in person. From the interview I hope to learn what causes the atria to vibrate during a atrial fibrillation, what the growth is when a horse has vegetative endocarditis and how you can prevent heart murmurs, as well as other more in depth things that I have not been able to find in my research. On a scale of 1-10 rating my progress I would say that I am at a 7. I say this because I have not been working on my project every night like I would have hoped due to Adventure Ed. Next week I am going to try and get into contact with Jennifer Miller. I am wondering though if I am supposed to be writing a paper or something. I suppose I will ask my mentor next week.

Reflection Writing #2
So far in my project I have been mainly doing research. I have also started looking into who I'm going to interview. I am hoping to get into contact with a vet named Jennifer Miller from the Pilchuck Animal Hospital. I have started thinking up some interview questions for when the occasion arises just so that I will be prepared. Everything in my project has gone as planned, meaning that I turned in my first proposal and it got accepted right away. Actually come to think of it I haven't gotten my second proposal back yet. My research is going well too, just as planned. The only thing that has really surprised me so far is the level of vocabulary and terms in my topic. I knew that what I was getting into was going to be advanced, but I really didn't realize just how much so.

Reflection Writing #1
My topic is equine cardiology. My main focus will be on common heart ailments, prevention and treatment, as well as a more in depth understanding of how the horse's heart works. I chose this topic because I absolutely love, love, love, horses and I aspire to one day become either a veterinary cardiologist or a human cardiologist. My research has been going very well considering my larger amount of resources including internet articles, many books, and veterinarians at Pilchuck Animal Hospital. I am very excited to finally get going on my project. My first proposal was excepted and I'm expecting my second one to be as well. I haven't gotten my mentor yet either so I'm getting a little worried.
